Bitmac Ltd was established in 1964 as the first hot asphalt plant on the island. This brought about the advent of hot asphalt on Maltese public roads. Since then, Bitmac Limited have been the pioneers of road construction in Malta and have grown and progressed with the times producing bituminous waterproof materials in the process.
Among some of the most popular works include the airport runways and Mater Dei Hospital.
In 1990, Bitmac diversified its production and grew as an Expanded Polystyrene manufacturing plant. It was commissioned to produce Expanded Polystyrene blocks and sheets for Insulation purposes. This brought about new markets in construction, packaging and the filming sector.
In 2009 Bitmac further expanded by investing in new machinery for the local fishing industry in the production of Polystyrene fish boxes.
By 2012, Bitmac Ltd saw an opportunity to invest more in the private sector rather than the public sector and a deal was struck with Resina Color and Edilcol, two established Italian companies dedicated to the supply of paints and plaster respectively. In the same year an innovative investment was made in the Polystyrene sector with the introduction of a CNC cutter, which would open markets that were before untapped such as architectural decorative products, sign making and exhibits.
Today, Bitmac Ltd is a well-established company in the construction industry, providing the public with certified materials and 50 years of experience in the making.
